Bridget Drakeford

Handthrown porcelain

Bridget established her first workshop in Scotland in 1977 making domestic stoneware. An interest in oriental ceramics led her to work in porcelain. She has always drawn her influences from Eastern ceramics and has developed a distinctive style of her own.

Teapots have become a speciality, incorporating silver and wood in the detailed fittings. Other shapes include vases, jugs, bottles and bowls. She researches and mixes her own glazes drawing on traditional Chinese glazes. Inspiration is taken from ongoing study of examples of decorative arts from other cultures in museums and art galleries, and when possible by travelling.

Her work is available from her own studio and through galleries in the UK. It is also sold in Europe, the USA, Japan, Korea and the Middle East.
