Over millennia wood has probably been man's most important material. Most innovations were first made from wood, yet for all its attributes, it is probably the world's most abused. It should be our most prized, being one of the world's few renewable resources.' Managed correctly it is an infinite resource, but relentless deforestation continues.' No other material offers such workability, tactility, warmth, or unpredictability. It is time to treasure and revere.
